WHAT DOES THE IMPAROLE SPEECH THERAPIST DO IN REHABILITATION DO? HOW DOES IT HELP CHILD AND PARENTS?
There are a number of valid intervention methods or programmes to which the Centre’s speech therapists refer. Depending on the objectives, a specific path is outlined for each family and child to stimulate communication and language skills.
In most cases, visual strategies are adopted within the session to facilitate communication and understanding.
Through play, songs, drawing, stories and other materials that appeal to the child, depending on the need, communication skills (eyepiece contact, attention and joint emotion, shifting, imitation) will be worked on the articulation of words, vocabulary, phrases and narrative.
WHAT MATERIALS DOES THE SPEECH THERAPIST USE IN THERAPY?
The materials used are chosen on the basis of the child’s interests and therapy objectives. The most commonly used games are: memory, tombola figures, soap bubbles, miniaturized material. To facilitate comprehension and communication, the following are used: Theme Tables, Selection Tables, Scales to structure activities with symbols or photographs.
HOW MANY TIMES A WEEK DOES THE SPEECH THERAPIST SEE THE CHILD?
The speech therapist and team will evaluate the weekly frequency (1/2 times) as needed.
HOW CAN THE PARENT HELP THE CHILD EVERY DAY?
The speech therapist will guide the parents as they accompany them, showing them communicative ways to promote the intentionality of communication and targeted exercises to increase the language in all its components. The continuous exchange of experiences and knowledge between the speech therapist and the parent, who knows the child better than anyone else, is fundamental. Parents will be able to attend the sessions (when deemed necessary) or talk to the speech therapist in dedicated interviews.
During the sessions together we will play, talk and sing. The parent will see how within simple games you can have fun and learn at the same time.
How does the speech therapist work with the teacher?
Continuous updating with the school is fundamental. IThe aim of working together by outlining methods, strategies and approaches facilitates the achievement of objectives and creates consistency in demands.
In most cases, network meetings are held 2/3 times a year. Among the figures involved, we remain in touch to work together and aim in the same direction.
